More in-keeping with what most would call traditional mahogany reproduction furniture, our Traditional Collection is based on 18th and early 19th Century period furniture styles. All top surfaces in this collection of mahogany furniture are constructed from solid African mahogany and the use of olive ash bandings and inlays on both tops and cabinet fascias compliments and provides the perfect match should customers wish to mix our Traditional mahogany furniture collection with furniture from our Grandeur or Regal collections. Purists of true reproduction mahogany furniture may not require inlays or olive ash bandings if so tops and fascias can be supplied minus the bandings upon request. Solid mahogany tops in our Traditional mahogany furniture collection (unlike those made by some of our competitors) are always constructed from solid mahogany timbers taken from the same log. This feature, even though each piece of solid mahogany timber will vary in colour and have its own unique grain markings, enables us to retain an even colour and look over the complete top, but more importantly as the timbers are from one log it reduces the chance of uneven timber movement which can lead to faults forming in table surfaces such as cracks and splits or bow shaping which would normally occur in tops containing a combination of timber from different trees, rather than solid mahogany from one piece of timber. |
