Cherry Wood Furniture Collection from Charles Barr
Inspired by British nautical history both of our Cherry dining and bedroom collections have been constructed from rich cherry fruit wood timbers matched with contrasting curl mahogany bandings and inlays enhanced by galleon theme styling.
Why Do We Use Cherry Wood for Making Furniture?
Although more expensive than its European counterpart both of our cherry collections are constructed mainly from American cherry wood solids and veneers; chosen because of its sustainability with fast growing properties.
Although the tops of all our models in both of our cherry collections are veneered, on request as with our mahogany ranges we are able to offer solid cherry options on dining and occasional models and as standard on all Charles Barr twin pedestal dining tables any tables commissioned in solid or veneered cherry will store at least one of their centre leaves.
American & European Cherry Wood
American cherry offers wider board sizes with fewer faults and defects unlike the European species which often contains higher percentages of sap and faults such as shakes and an abundance of tree knots. The more expensive American Cherry we prefer has proved to be the most cost effective option with less waist fewer faults and by far provides us with the desired effect we require for our cherry furniture.
All the cherry fruit wood models in both collections are polished as standard in our C5 lightly antique distressed finish, the close tight grain structure of this delightful fruit wood timber feels like silk to the touch even before it is enhanced and brought to life by our lengthy finishing processes that make the best use of modern technology, mixing tried and tested traditional hand polishing skills with modern day cellulose lacquers to provide a higher degree of protection against heat and water or spirit spillages yet still achieving the time honoured look of a traditional French polish finish.
Tradtional Lightly Distressed Cherry Wood Antique Finish
Traditional or Modern whichever effect is desired our cherry wood furniture will provide the perfect setting and will remain an enduring and unchanging source of pleasure which will be as little affected by passing fashions as it is by the passing of time. That is one of the most reassuring and practical virtues of both our Trafalgar cherry wood furniture collections
